With a Mitsubishi Kuru Toga mechanical pencil, you’ve got a surprising amount of technology in your hand. Every time you make a mark, the complex Kuru Toga Engine silently kicks into gear. As you lift the pencil, Kuru Toga turns the lead slightly and advances it a tiny bit. This keeps the lead sharp and consistent, so you don’t need to rotate the pencil or click the lead-advance button. Instead, you can stay in the flow of writing or drawing.
Kuru Toga KS, introduced in 2024, is a fresh line of Kuru Toga pencils with contemporary colors and elastomer grip sections. There’s a replaceable eraser (Uni Type S) under the cap. Accepts all kinds of 0.5 mm lead.
Made in Japan.
Founded in the 19th century in Tokyo, Mitsubishi Pencil has been one of the world’s leading pen and pencil manufacturers for generations. Well-known around the world for their Uni brand of pens and pencils, Mitsubishi continues to innovate and release new products, like POSCA paint markers and an ever-expanding lineup of writing pens.
Fun fact: “Mitsubishi” means “three diamonds,” and the name and three-diamond mark of Mitsubishi Pencil predates the better-known Mitsubishi Group by ten years. Despite sharing the same name and symbol, Mitsubishi Pencil is not related to any of the numerous other Mitsubishi companies in Japan.
