CHARBONNEL BLACK 55985

Black 55985 is one of seven black inks available in the Charbonnel Water-Washable lineup. This particular black is meant for intaglio techniques like etching, engraving, and aquatint. It’s very viscous, even more so than 55981. It’s mainly used to modify other inks, making them blacker and stiffer. It’s not ideal for relief printing techniques, like linocut and woodcut.

INKS FOR MODERN PRINTMAKERS

These impressively pigmented, oil-based printmaking inks from Charbonnel have a special feature: they clean up easily with regular soap and water. In fact, these inks are actually easier to clean up than acrylics because they take so much longer to dry on the inking plate. Acrylics have to be scraped off, while Charbonnel Water-Washable Oils simply dissolve under hot water. No solvents or hazardous chemicals needed.
